THE ANFA ITALY CHAPTER PROMOTES A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO ARCHITECTURE TO INSPIRE SCIENCE-INFORMED AND EXPERIENCE-CENTERED DESIGN
Grounded in architecture’s expertise and informed by the multidisciplinary, empirical investigation into experience, body, and built environment, the ANFA Italy Chapter encourages mutual understanding and knowledge sharing among students, scholars, educators, and practitioners. We are a non-profit research, dissemination, and networking project aimed to valorize the Italian scientific community with the backing of an international Advisory Council of experts from architecture, design, philosophy, cognitive science, and economics.
Compliant with the Academy of Neuroscience for Architecture (ANFA) mission, we focus on translating and applying science-based and evidence-driven principles to the design process at any scale (interior, architecture, urban, and landscape design). Five concepts inspire our approach to what is now commonly called “neuroarchitecture”:
embodiment,
affect,
atmosphere,
attunement, and
memory
New Events and Initiatives
The conversation between architecture and neuroscience is always evolving. We are currently developing a new series of events, symposia, and educational projects to continue exploring the next frontiers in the field together.
