
Maria Chiara Monacelli (M.Arch.) is an architect and consultant focusing on how architectural environments influence our perception, behavior, and emotional experience. She is passionate about studying art, architecture, and their relationships with people, especially as they refer to the design of workspaces and exhibits. Maria Chiara obtained a Master’s Degree with honors in Architecture | Built Environment | Interiors at the Polytechnic University of Milan and completed a postgraduate Master’s Degree in Neuroscience Applied to Architectural Design (NAAD) at the Iuav University of Venice. Moreover, she attended interdisciplinary courses at prestigious colleges, such as Berkeley (San Francisco, CA), Yale (New Haven, CT), and the University of the Arts in London; she also joined international educational projects in the field of human sciences and architecture, such as the Moving Boundaries program (MB). In 2021, Maria Chiara won a scholarship to nurture her research interests, enrolling in a postgraduate Master’s Course in Neuroaesthetics at the Medicine Faculty of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Professionally, she gained experience through multiple collaborations in Italy and Spain, working as an architect and designer in renowned architectural and creative firms. Maria Chiara is the Founder and Creative Director of SENSORIAL, a project that merges design, art, and neuroscience to create spaces, objects, and surfaces that stimulate the senses, evoke deep emotions, and establish an intimate dialogue between sensorial matter and body.
