Redon Softa (MU1, B.Sc.) is a Swiss architect and musician, holding a Master’s Degree in Neuroscience Applied to Architectural Design (NAAD) at the Iuav University of Venice. After beginning his studies at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH), he continued his academic journey at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), where he graduated with a thesis in philosophy and a project in urban design. Within his NAAD final work, obtaining the highest mark and entitled “Architecture for Alzheimer’s Patients: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Mitigate Behavioral and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD),” Redon focused on how spatial design affects the behavioral disorders of Alzheimer’s patients.
After working for several years at the family-owned firm Linear 77, he has recently co-founded a new practice with partners in Switzerland. As Director Architect of VESS atelier, a department of the VESS company, Redon aims to merge experience and continuous research from the academic world with professional architectural practice. The atelier's objective is to create case studies which, in turn, can foster the development of applied research. The architectural atelier also participates in competitions, as a collaborator or consultant, with a particular focus on themes related to neurodivergence and users affected by neurodegenerative diseases.
Beyond the realm of architecture, Redon is also active in the world of product design, having initiated a collaboration with the Japanese company Sencha House to create objects that enhance the ritual and experience of the tea ceremony.
Additionally, he is the co-founder of Laboratorio Softa, a collective created with his sisters, both architects. At the Laboratorio Softa, they conduct independent research on architecture and develop projects embracing architecture, design, urban art, illustration, and music. His primary areas of interest lie in the correlation between the characteristics of different architectural typologies and human behaviors.
